What is RYLA about?

When and Where is RYLA?

In District 9750 RYLA is held in mid January, at Stanwell Tops lodge, Stanwell tops - Saturday through to the following Saturday.
The 2013 RYLA Week is 12 January – 19 January.

Who runs RYLA?

In District 9750, RYLA is run by a team of young people, many of whom are past RYLA participants. The RYLA team consists of one Seminar Team Leader and three seminar team members who all work together to organise, develop and operate the RYLA week. They also support the participants throughout the week, as they challenge themselves within the activities. The seminar team is assisted two camp directors who are usually mature Rotarians.

What to Expect…

Everyone comes to RYLA hoping to gain different things. Sometimes these things are exactly what you gain from participating – other times, you learn something completely different, that you never expected. Everyone’s experience of RYLA is unique. What you can expect though, is to meet people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, and to hear from a series of speakers, all with different perspectives on leadership, personal development and community. We hope the week will inspire you to further develop on your leadership skills and future plans.

Who Pays for RYLA?

Each RYLA candidate is sponsored by a Rotary Club from District 9750. The cost of sponsoring a candidate is used to pay for venue hire, activities and catering throughout the program. The sponsoring Rotary Club is also responsible for transporting the participant to and from the site. This means that it does not cost you anything to participate in the program. If you would like to participate, please contact your Rotary Club in your local area. A list of clubs in the 9750 region is available at http://www.rotarynews.info/2/District/9750/809/

What happens after RYLA?

Following the RYLA program each year Rotary Clubs are strongly encouraged to invite their RYLA candidate back to their club to share their experience of RYLA.
